Kyle sent me a couple of pictures that his (awesome t-shirt designing and buying) wife took at Reston. Posting these on his site, amidst the context of Beefcake and Hump Day fare (yeah, I don't think I'm going to link to that one) would very likely violate some of Blogspot's terms of service.
Anyhow, I love these pictures because they help make the distinction between cycling as a self-indulgent sport, and one that's aspirational. It's easy to feel like it's the former, but there are life lessons in every turn of the pedal. It's important, I think, to remember who is watching, and soaking it all in.

Mike,
Thanks for posting the pic of my youngest, Connor (the dude on the bitchin' red bike and yellow helmet), on the site. He'll get a kick out of it. He and my other son, Parker, didn't want to leave the race.
All he wants to do now is race his bike...and upgrade to a Cervelo SLC-SL in a size 51...maybe he'll need to grow into it.

My wife brought my 5yr old son by for a little while and he didn't want to leave. He mus have said just one more lap about 20 times.

JP, tell me your son's secret. I wish I could have talked myself into "just one more lap about 20 times" on Sunday.

He was kicked back in a lawn chair with a Starbuck's frapp and getting to hold up a flag to stop street crossers when the riders came by, and his mom was shopping. I on the other hand had my "one more lap" cut short by the nice official.
