Today's Keeping Tempo is brought to you by Rudy Project, the latest addition to the GamJams Local Racing Sponsor Directory. They're (naturally) found in the Helmets / Eyewear section, on account of they sell both helmets AND eyewear. I suppose I could list them twice in that category. Rudy Project sponsors local squads NCVC and Artemis, as well as some clubs outside the region, including HealthNet, Colavita, Jelly Belly, Rabobank, Milram - you know, clubs like that.
Today's Keeping Tempo theme could very well be, "It's a good time of year for..." To wit:
- It's a good time of year for getting a LT test and calibrating your winter training. It's a particularly good time for it if, like Whine and Cheese, the graph of your LT looks like a hockey stick.
- It's also a good time for a bike fit, using the winter to train your body into a new position. Don't Train Like Me had one, and is now in the market for a new stem and a new seatpost.
- Obviously, it's a great time of year to race Cyclocross. Since you can't do that today though, it's a perfect day to look at Cyclocross photos. Beth's Blog has links to just about all of them from last weekend.
- There's probably no better time of the year for mountain biking than right now. Keep an eye on Darren's The Bike and More if you're headed off-road. He has the best trail coverage around.
- It's also the perfect season to start a new racing blog. Chuck Hutcheson just launched one. He has no blogroll yet (though he has posted the GJ Ambassador NewsRoll, which is ineffably awesome of him - thanks Chuck) so now is the time to start lobbying for links. Chuck also rumors that Russ Langley's blog is in the works. I'm pretty sure neither of them intends to downgrade, so you can now officially uncouple "Cat 4" from "Racing blogs" in your vernacular. Blogs are category agnostic.
- Though not all racing bloggers are, themselves, agnostic. I give you Jason Pearlman's (The Bike Rack Racing Team) The Complete Jewish Cyclist. "Ride hard, ride kosher, don't ride on Saturday."
- It's also, alas, the time of the year for running, which Karen Got Wheels has resigned herself to.
- If you're going to run though, Lorena Candrian has learned that 400M is not the optimal distance for a road cyclist.
