The series are over, points are tallied and champions have been crowned, but don't put the winter slicks on the CX bike just yet. You've got two chances left to get your CX fix in before the season officially closes:
- Tripower presents the Virginia Beach Cyclocross Winter Endurance Challenge, presented by Contes Red Mill. $3K in cash is up for grabs on a circuit in and around the VB Sportsplex. Game day is January 17th and registration is open now. The following day is a duathalon on a CX-friendly circuit, as well as a 5K run (without barriers).
- And then on February 1st (Super Bowl Sunday), Proteus Bicycles presents the "Cross my Heart and SUPERBOWL OF SINGLESPEED CX" race in College Park, MD. Scheduled in the bizarro format, they've scheduled the Elite Men to go off first in the crack of 10am race, reserving the featured 2:10pm slot for the singlespeed category, which they bill as "your chance to show why Singlespeed Cyclocross is a special kind of riding reserved for only the extremely strong, stubborn or stupid." No prize money - this one is for fun, and honor, and an excuse to be fully lubricated well before the big kickoff. Registration opens New Year's Day.
Thanks for the love, Mike.

I may have another race announcement soon to keep the January cross season alive.

Everyone should go to this race and rent out their apartments to out of towners coming in for inauguration weekend. Self-financing race weekend.
