Hooray for Unconventional Events: VB Wheelmen debut the Smithfield HAMmer Fest TTT

New to the regional racing calendar in 2009 is the Smithfield HAMmer Fest 2-man TTT, Saturday June 27th in Smithfield, VA. The Virginia Beach Wheelmen rock for the following reasons:

1. They put together an innovative event format unsaddled with BAR restrictions. When building your 2-person team, you can select from any category, age range, gender, team or species.
2. It's another chance to use your $8K worth of aero gear.
3. Or with the "Mercx" category it's a chance to go mano-a-mano without the benefit of streamlined goodies.
4. There is a Family Competition, Masters 100+ competition, Young Team Competition and Sub 1-hour competition, each of which conveys a $100 prize and sizable bragging rights.
5. Individual TT events are also available for the friendless or draft-wary.
6. The Wheelmen are paying all BikeReg fees. You pay your race entry fee and that's it.
