The 2009 Philly Race, previously on the ropes after the loss of funding from its title sponsor and city cutbacks, will run as scheduled in June, thanks in large part to two yet unnamed sponsors who have stepped in with about half of the $500K budget shortfall. Sales of VIP tickets over the past week have kicked in another $100K or so, leaving a gap of $100K - $150K. But race promoter Dave Chauner doesn't think that gap will be held all the way to the line. ""With the new sponsors and the momentum we have had with VIP ticket sales, I think we are going to be all right," he said.
The new sponsors will be named next week, along with a renewed push for VIP ticket sales. The complete story is at the Philadelphia Inquirer.
