One of the advantages of publishing a blog instead of a venerable industry trade publication is that we can devote entire articles to rumor and innuendo, without the inconvenience of fact-checking or other research. This is one of those articles - likely the first of several you'll see here over the next few months, while there's no actual racing to write about.
2010 Elite Team Rumors and Rumblings
The Mid-Atlantic elite team landscape looks like it may be in for its biggest shake-up in years. If Chuck Hutch's blog is to be believed, Russ Langley and Josh Frick may be collaborating on a new squad that is neither Battley Harley-Davidson nor DC Velo.
If the rumors of the dissolution of the Artemis Elite team are true, there may be some rich talent from that squad looking for new homes. According to the GamJams Transfer Directory, however, some of the Artemis Elite alumni have already found homes - with Ramon Benitez, Mike Githens and Mark Warno reportedly moving to Battley Harley. Will 2010 see SuperDave in purple again?
Battley Harley-Davidson is further strengthened by the addition of former The Bike Rack racers Tim Rugg and Tim Brown, both of whom has breakout 2009 seasons.
Haymarket / HomeVisit's new roster has already been reported here. The squad has proved to be an equal opportunity recruiter, luring racers from NCVC (Steven Grant and Frederick Andersson), Artemis (Bryan Vaughan), ABRT (Lance Lacy and Chip Hoover), Evolution (Ryan Simpson) and 540Cycling (Andrew Bridges).
Where does the transfer season leave LSV?
Perhaps most importantly, what color will all the new kits be?
