Here's how this weekend's racing at a couple of early, early season events could'a, should'a, and would'a played out if it hadn't'a played out the way it did...
At the GamJams Computrainer TT Throwdown p/b Sweat GUTR, a few racers found that this "virtual race" was a unique experience that made (and will make in the future!) a frozen solid off-season a little warmer:- BRILF.net provides some great detail on just exactly what it means to race "virtually." If you don't think a lot of tactics went into this event, read his report and start planning your own assault for the next time!
- By incorporating the technical term "couldagonefasteritis" some might think the Flamenco Chuckwagon is just mugging for a mention on the "could'a, should'a, woulda's." But, to be honest, he had me at "artisanal cheese venture."
- The Pedal Pusher offers both a unique perspective and photos of the event. Though only a Cat 5, he has completely captured the essence of pre-race nerves and that tangible feeling we all recognize from the warm-up area. He nails the combination of excitement and dread mingled with buckets of nervous sweat: "like a Target on Chrismas Eve." I predict great things for The Pedal Pusher.
Conditions made for some interesting (non)racing at the Wolfpack Classic Weekend in North Carolina. But some folks got some great saddle time in:
- Rude Siggy took advantage of the conditions to get in some quality training and mentoring miles with his collegiate squad. Though weather made Saturday's race a "FAIL," the team building and fun was a success; that's what it's all about, no?
- NeedToBike keeps it short and sweet. Though someone else cut his race short, no one can touch his enthusiasm for next weekend and the next and the next...
- Celerity Cycling, however, sounds like the team to beat, putting three riders in the top-10 in their first race together. That's especially impressive considering their stated goal was just "keeping the rubber side down!" What will happen when they really get serious about winning?
- In similar fashion, Haymarket Bicycles / Homevisit capitalized on their recent Tour of the Bahamas success by grabbing three more top-10 finishes in their Livestrong Challenge goal of 100 top-10 finishes for the year. 24 down, 76 to go...
- From the Haymarket Bicycles / Homevisit team, we can also read the personal report from Whine and Cheese who is so matter of fact about his win that he reminds me of me except for the fact that I'm not going to Belgium in a few weeks. It's too cold over there...

Updates:
- It seems the Top of the Hill RR (Wolfpack Classic Weekend) was a race of firsts for the GWU Cycling Team: first race, first solo attack, first win, first mechanical failure drill, and first regurgitated breakfast. College athletics absolutely rock and these guys and gals seem to know how to make it all happen.
Know of any more great race reports from last weekend? Send them to me here.

Thanks for the love guys. I had a great time. Can't wait to give it another try. Minus the Could'a, Should'a, Would'a!
