Here's how last weekend's races could'a, should'a, and would'a turned out if they hadn't'a turned out the way they did...
Virginia Beach Velo continued their training series with the Snowball Crit #2 giving several teams the chance to test out their early season fitness:
- The Need To BIke flew in from a Mexican running odyssey, started with a bad clip-in, accidentally broke away with a teammate, and lapped the field. Just think what he could do if could quit that nasty running habit.
- Firebike and his 'mates had a great race together even though they re-learned that old lesson that "no plan survives first contact with the enemy." Hey, it may not have been "according to plan," but the results speak for themselves.
- The ladies of Tradewinds Racing got their first win as a team in a photo finish of a perfectly executed final 200 meters.
- And then there's the Vanderkittens... They have the best race report because it comes complete with a soundtrack! It's sort of like Pandora Radio but for cyclists with too much time on their hands who love to see how other cyclists spent their weekends. The Vanderkittens rock and so does their race reporting.
The collegiate circuit headed out to William and Mary for a weekend's worth of time trialing and road racing:
- Nick Versus Gravity celebrates two things with equal exuberance: his 2-0 record in road races and the realization that another racer actually reads his blog! It's the little things like this that make life worth living and races worth doing, isn't it?
- Meanwhile, the rest of the GW Cycling Team says it all in their title: they rained down fire on the rest of the ACC in the race of truth. The "two wheeled Colonials" follow it up with a more detailed report covering all the weekend's races, racers. and tricorn aero hats (you gotta read it to understand).
- Celerity Cycling p/b Fitness Together says the Second Snowball Crit was "twice as exciting, twice as crashy" and ended with a "sucking knee wound" (and I can only imagine what that sounds like). But they have some great pictures of their team working hard up front.

Updates:
- After the William and Mary races, Fiddleharpa spoils the surprise by calling his race report a "crash recap." But fortunately he's a collegiate racer and can finish the report with mention of his planned Spring Break recovery escapades...
- Fellow Hokie Andy Reagan also enjoyed a little timeout near the end of the race when he rolled himself all over the pavement just to see how it felt. But he has the right attitude and admits that "minus the crash, it would have been a near perfect weekend." That guy's water bottle is definitely half full.
Know of any more great race reports from last weekend? Send them to me here.
