Wittwer, GamJams/Pre-Reg.com Surge into Cat 3 Cup Lead

Greg Wittwer's (GamJams / Pre-Reg.com p/b Cutaway Clothing) second place finish at last weekend's RGS Title Reston Town Center Grand Prix netted him enough points to pull on the leaders khakis in the Cat 3 Cup p/b Mountain Khakis. Wittwer's choice? The Mountain Khakis Teton Twill short. Next time you see Greg, ask the proud pants-wearer about his "full-length action gusset."

Going into the next Cat 3 Cup event - this Saturday's Hagerstown Challenge - there are a handful of racers poised to close the gap. Reston winner Brigham Lumm (Route 1 Velo / Arrow Bicycle) is on fire, with a recent win also in the Tour of Washington County Road Race and an impressive bunch sprint win in the race's crit as well. A win in Hagerstown could put him within snot-hocking distance of Wittwer. An on-form  Sigberto Garcia is even closer; if Bert doesn't notch some points in Hagerstown look for him to close the gap at Coppi, which he won last year. Johnathan Phan (Carytown Bicycles) has also raced consistently, scoring Cup points in three separate events. Larry Byvik (GamJams / Pre-Reg.com), Jose Nunez (Route 1 Velo / Arrow Bicycle) and Ben Reynolds (CycleLife / Raw Talent Ranch) have all amassed Cup points and are showing strong fitness currently.

Witter, Byvik, Kyle Murphy and one other guy have all put up points for GamJams / Pre-Reg.com in the team competition, giving the host squad a 13-point cushion over erstwhile team leaders Haymarket / Homevisit. Phan's Carytown team is in third, followed by the charging Route 1 Velo / Arrow Bicycle squad. Over? The fat lady isn't even in the dressing room yet.
