Here's how this weekend's racing could'a, should'a, and would'a turned out if it hadn't'a turned out the way it did...
Two Time Trial Championships were contested this weekend. MABRA crowned champions at the Church Creek TT and the Virginia Cycling Association found out who was the fastest at the Stony Creek TT:
- Okay, it's a crappy way to end a season, but there is a certain beauty in the Ring Cycle the View From the Drops experienced. I mean, it ended just like it started. Almost mystical.
- The Vanderkittens raced, raced fast and brought home the bacon. Literally. Sort of.
- Okay, the title is "Season Ending Race." But that's not a bad thing if you are Tradewinds Racing and you finish it out with a championship result.
- Chicken Tenders and ham. Two great tastes that taste great together. Except in this instance when the ham is actually a "hammy" that didn't feel like riding hard for 40K.
- Abe Lincoln battles Black Bears and This Ain't No Monkey Business battles the clock. Everyone wins.
- "Skin suits are not for the timid, especially at 203 lbs." Journey of an Amateur Cyclist seems to have reached ground truth and still found a way to break barriers.
- The pre-reace was perfect, the first part of the race was pretty good and the turnaround was fine. It's that last 5K that Celerity Cycling could have done without.
- One of the boys from Your Ad Here put his best effort there and walked away elated with the results.
But there was some flat, fast corporate park action amidst the thunderstorms at the Dawg Days of Summer Circuit Race:
- Nick Versus Gravity is ready and willing to upgrade. Those dang "guidelines" are just barriers for the weak who don't have gravity on their side.
- District Velocity helped put on the race, drove the pace car, raced in the rain and took a few top-10's along the way.
- He used to admire the insanely chiseled calves of some local heroes from a distance, now Rude Siggy is admiring them up close and personal when they aren't obscured by a driving rain.
- Cat 4 road rash is less fun that his Cat 5 wins, but MykeCyle is proving himself strong by already talking about the mythical "next year."
- Okay, it's not a corporate park and it's late, but By Da Numbas is pretty proud of how his team raced (and won!) the Tour of Millersburg. They deserve some love and so does that venue.
