GamJams.net Ambassador Peloton Application
Here's where you apply to join the GamJams.net Ambassador Peloton. You've probably got a few questions:
1. What is it?
It's a group of local racers who blog about racing, training, riding and the other important things in life. Like nutrition or componentry choices or power data, for example.
2. Why should I join?
A couple of reasons:
a. Your site will be linked in a prominent "Ambassador Peloton" section visible on every page of GamJams.net
b. You'll be eligible for all the sponsor benefits I can get my hands on.
3. What sponsor benefits?
Here's how it works. You're riding and racing and training, and blogging about it. People know you, partly because of your velocentric feats of strength and skill, but also in no small part because of your blog (and because GamJams.net links to it on occasion). You're a perfect ambassador for sponsors looking for racers to try out product, and share their experiences with their teammates, competitors, and - in your case - growing audience of readers. So GamJams.net is working on lining up sponsors who will make you some very attractive offers so that you'll try their products, and share your experience with them on your site.
4. Do I have to leave my current team to join the GamJams.net Ambassador Peloton?
Au contraire, mon ami. You need to be on an established team in order to be eligible. What's valuable to sponsors is that you're already part of a community of racers. That's the "Ambassador" part - you represent the GamJams.net sponsors to your team, and also to your blog readers. Normally, if they want to reach your team they can sponsor your team. But with GamJams.net, if they sponsor the Ambassadors, they are able to reach ALL of the teams represented.
5. Do I have to wear a GamJams.net kit?
Nope, you still wear your team kit. But there will be some innovative ways of identifying you as a GamJams.net Ambassador when you're out on the course.
6. What if an Ambassador sponsor conflicts with an existing sponsor of my team?
No worries - you're not obligated to take advantage of any of the sponsor benefits afforded. Relationships with your team sponsors supersede relationships with GamJams.net sponsors.
7. So what do I have to do?
First, fill out the application below. If you're accepted there are a few other things you'll have to agree to, like putting some site tracking code on your site so I can report total Ambassador Network traffic to sponsors, put up an image advertisement listing the current sponsors, adding a button that indicates that you're part of the GamJams.net Ambassador Peloton, and also adding the GamJams.net Headline Widget to your site. And of course you'll have to continue doing what you're doing - ride, race and blog about it. The only difference is that now you'll get deep discounts and even some free merchandise along the way.
8. How do I get my application accepted?
There are only three requirements:
a. Be a bike racer on an existing team.
b. Have a blog that has been in existence for at least 3 months. (So now is a good time to start one, ahead of the 2008 season.)
c. Update the blog at least once per week.
Of course, I reserve the right not to accept all applications, but that's the general spirit. And this is a model where more is better, so I'm not going to cut off applications once we reach a certain size.
For any other questions, just drop me a line.
