1. Why let advertisers choose their own price?
It's rough out there right now. Budgets are cut, and cut again. But advertisers need to reach new customers more than ever. This is a way to let advertisers try GamJams risk free. They reach the site's audience of 10,000 competitive cyclists, and we get to know them so we can figure out what other programs they'll find useful later on.
2. Can any advertiser participate?
The program is limited to:
a. Mid-Atlantic companies that sponsor local racing
b. National companies that sponsor amateur racing (in the Mid-Atlantic, or elsewhere)
c. Mid-Atlantic companies that employ or are run by local racers
If you have questions about eligibility, email us.
3. How can you make a business out of practically giving away advertising?
If everybody pays the minimum, even if they can afford more, then we really can't afford it for long.
4. What is minimum I can spend?
As little as $1 per day.
5. If I spend more than $1 per day will my ads be larger or more prominent?
Nope. All ads in the Pay-What-You-Can program receive the same treatment and exposure, and rotate through the allocated ad spaces.
6. So why would I ever pay $2 or $3 or $5 per day?
If you can afford it, and you think it's worth it, you should. That's how it works. Sure you can exploit it without anybody ever knowing, if that's how you do business. But nobody is in this industry for the money, really. So it feels like a safer environment to launch a program born from - and counting on - goodwill.
7. How should I calculate how much I should spend per day?
One of two ways. If you advertise online a lot, you know what your average CPM is. A $5 CPM is equivalent to about $5 per day here on average. Start there, and look at context, quality of audience and placement compared to the other places you advertise.
If you don't advertise online as much, start with your daily coffee budget. What is the value to your job of reaching 10,000 competitive cyclists, relative to your daily grande skinny latte jolt?
8. Where do the ads run?
Pay-What-You-Can-Afford ads run in the right column underneath the header that says "More GamJams Supporters."
9. What if I want to run a larger ad, or want my ad to run at the top of the site?
That's the master plan. You can absolutely do that, but you have to pay my prices not yours. See the GamJams Media Kit for rates on all other advertising options.
10. What kind of reporting do you provide?
GamJams uses Google Ad Manager to serve and track ads. Reporting on total impressions and click-through will be made available to all advertisers. Clients can log in to the system at any time to review campaign details, and a full report will be sent via email at the end of the campaign.
11. What if I don't have an ad? Can you make one for me?
GamJams charges $25 to turn your logo or image file into a static image ad. For more elaborate ads please email for a price quote.
12. What if I don't have a website to link to?
GamJams charges $50 to create a standard landing page on the GamJams site with information about your business. For more elaborate landing pages please email for a price quote.
