Assaulting Amphibians and other Weekend Activities

Due to pending thunderstorms, tonight's hill repeats at Great Falls have been canceled. In their place, I offer you more links on the Interweb to a bunch of people around here writing about bike racing:

Some results from the weekend:

  • The VA Crit Champs results were distributed via email in an Excel File. If'n you didn't get them or don't want to open Excel, here they are as a PDF: Download va_state_crit_champs_results.pdf
  • And here are results for the MABRA Track Champs over the weekend as well.
  • I'm told by the good folks at WWVC that it will be a couple days before the Quicksilver results are up, but I'll point to them when they are.

So what are you doing this weekend?

Here's what the weekend holds:

  • The Mount Joy Road Race is on Saturday up in PA. I know a few folks headed up for it, including Mark Lewandowski, who told me he hopes the race is "more joy than mount." He did this VeloRoute of the course and calculated that it's 555 feet of climbing for each 5.7 mile lap.
  • Track Season at LVV kicks off on Saturday also. There's still time to pre-reg by 5pm tonight.
  • Salem, VA plays host to the Dragon's Back XII MTB Race on Sunday. Given the forecast, I hope dragons like mud.
  • All the calendars say that the U.S. 40K TT challenge up in Middletown, PA is on Sunday. But the BikeReg page says Sunday 5/6. If you're planning on going and this new date confuses you, better check with the promoter. If you know what's up, please post in the comments here.
  • I'm not a master strategist on the bike, but "Go Fast, Turn Left" is a directive even I can follow. Which I plan to do, down in Richmond on Sunday. Weather permitting - race promoter Braden Govoni expects to make a final decision today about whether or not the race will forge on, or wash out.
  • None of the above? You can always get your fix by watching Paris-Roubaix on Versus at 5pm on Sunday.

See you out there. And back here next week, with full updates of the racing and related activities.
