Ugrades!

Here are this week's laudable:

Chris "Cyclochris" Dinsmore of Tripower is now a Cat 4. Way to go, Cyclochris.

Alex Butterfield of NCVC has outsprinted me for the last time as a Cat 4. Congrats on your upgrade to Cat 3, Butters.

Evelyn Egizi scolded me for writing "catted up" in my last post on upgrades. She says the en vogue term is simply "upgrade." Guess that shows you the last time the category number on my license changed. Kind of like going into a diner and ordering "a Tab". Anyhow, she also told me that the women who are earning points in the MABRA Women's Series have their upgrade points tracked automatically, and that the following have either upgraded or applied:

Cat 4 to Cat 3:

  • Lesley Golenor, HPC/List
  • Jen Cheng, NCVC
  • Susanna Matsen, Johns Hopkins
  • Robin Zimmerly, Route 1 Velo / Capitol Hill Bikes
  • Judy Wexler, Artemis

Cat 3 to Cat 2:

  • Jen Rasmussen, HPC/List
  • Heidi VonTeitenberg, ABRT/Latitude
  • Jen Bodine, ABRT/Latitude
  • Michele Hart, ABRT/Latitude
  • Rachel Warner, CRC
  • Lauren Shirock, BMW/Bianchi
  • Lorena Candrian, HPC/List

Have you or a teammate or even a nemesis upgraded? Let me know.

NCVC Movin' on Up

They've done their time and have earned their way into races twice as long, in fields twice as large.

Congrats to the following NCVC racers, who have just catted up from 5 to 4:

David Kirkpatrick
Alex D'Hoore
Joe Molloy
Drew Armstrong

Upgrades on your team? Send 'em my way.

Upgrades All Around

I heard a lot of talk this weekend about upgrades - how some people got them, how others were approved and waiting for their stickers, and how some really ought to get them.

Once a week or so, I'd like to post upgrades here, so your new competitors can see who they're up against, and your ex-competitors know whether or not they can back off the VO2 Max intervals for a little while. So if you're moving on up, or your teammate is, or someone you know, drop me a note and I'll compile a list. You should get some props for your achievement, instead of being rewarded solely with increased suffering in your new category.
